How to Protect Against Radiation

Radiation protection products

Radiation protection products are necessary in environments that have such harmful products. Radiography is the use of X rays to view a non uniformly composed material such as teh human body. This is one of the leading forms of radiation and is one that needs protecting against.

That is why when you go to the dentists they put those lead aprons on you. To stop you from getting radiation poisoning! Medical X rays are produced by letting a stream of fast electrons come to a sudden stop at a metal plate.

A picture archiving and communication system or PACS is a medical imaging technology which provides economical storage of, and convenient access to, images from multiple modalities, or source machine types. Lead glasses can help with this and let you look at them directly without hurting your eyes.

Electronic images and reports are transmitted digitally via PACS. This eliminates the need to manually file, retrieve, or transport film jackets. It is extremely important to have radiographic and imaging machines checked regularly to monitor the amount of radiation. Pacs monitors make things easy, and allow for better safety when it comes to jobs that pertain to radiation.

Radiation protection products are necessary in that they help us perform most tasks that could potentially be dangerous, with minor risk. The glasses, aprons, and PACs all assist in the struggle to not only make the work place safe, but to also further research in those fields. Great references here.
