New Mexico used to generate 350 bonds per month. Now they have way less. Many bail bonds companies have gone out of business. Bondsmen are at the end of their days in New Mexico. Some people argue that bail bonds companies make their money off of people committing crimes. Defined, a bail bondsman, bail bond agent or bond dealer is any person, agency, or corporation that pledges money or property as bail for the appearance of a defendant in court. Many people are locked up in jail awaiting trial because they cannot afford bail. A lot of times, it is the impoverished people. Some people might wait in jail for years before they get out and their case is solved. This can be damaging to the person and their life outside of jail.
