The urgent care industry in America represents one of the most popular and fast-growing segments of the health care industry. In the United States alone, there are approximately 6,800 urgent care centers, and most of them are located in freestanding buildings. In addition, there are many 24 hour urgent care facilities, and some are even open 7 days a week.
According to a survey by The Urgent Care Association of America, 57 percent of patients wait 15 minutes or less to be seen, and about 80 percent of all visits are 60 minutes or less.
