IVF is a labor-intensive and time-consuming process that requires multiple hospital visits for ovary stimulations, ultrasounds, and bloodwork. Once the ovaries are stimulated, the doctor will remove the ova and fertilize it with sperms from the partner in the lab. Three to five days after fertilization, the doctor places one or two embryos in the uterus, and after two weeks, the doctor checks whether the process worked.

This process requires the female partner to be pumped with hormones that will cause side effects like breast tenderness, bloating and cramping in the pelvic area, dizziness, shortness of breath, vomiting, and swelling in the abdomen.
