How Heat Recovery Systems Work
In this YouTube video, ESB looks at how a heat recovery system works. It’s essential to understand the concept before investing in specialized commercial water heating technology solutions.
During warmer months, it’s natural to ventilate a building by opening windows or using an airflow intake system.
This process allows fresh air to enter a building. The same air needs to be heated during colder months and requires a heat generation system, primarily if the building is occupied. After the air is warmed, waste air needs to be expelled from the building.
A heat recovery system takes the warmth from that waste air and recycles the heat back into the colder air being brought into the building. A building’s windows are closed during the colder months, and the air is brought in using a piece called a thermal wheel. This specialized equipment is designed to absorb the heat from the waste air going out and pumping it into the air coming in. The thermal wheel is one piece in the overall heat recovery system that transfers heat from one place to another. The same behavior is used in commercial water heating technology solutions.
